MATCH FRUIT WITH A SWEET, FRUITY WINE

MATCH SALAD DRESSINGS WITH CORRESPONDING WINES

Fruits are high in acid and can overpower many wines that are drank to accompany fruits or fruit based desserts.

The best match for fruit is a sweet, fruity wine so the flavours can complement each other. Good examples of these are Muscat based, sweet wines which are also floral and aromatic. Sparkling wines are also very good with fruit due to them being highly acidic, so matching the acid and fruit levels.

With salad, think about what ingredients and components are being used. Match a wine according to these e.g tuna fish, goats cheese, nuts etc.

If choosing a wine to accompany a plain, green salad, then think about the dressing that is used. If a vinegar-based dressing is applied, then you need an acidic, yet aromatic wine e.g. Sauvignon Blanc.
