MATCH SALTY CHEESE WITH SWEET WINE

MATCH LOCAL CHEESE TO ITS REGIONAL WINE

Like my first tip of matching a wine to it’s local cuisine, this really is evident with cheese. Try and match a cheese to a local wine and you won’t go far wrong!

With salty cheese like Stilton or Roquefort, these benefit from the contrasting  flavour of a sweet wine e.g. Port, Sauternes.

With creamy cheese, avoid red wine and match with a creamy dry white wine e.g. Chardonnay, German dessert wines (e.g. TBA).

Goats cheese goes well with Old World Sauvignon Blanc, e.g. Sancerre or Pouilly Fume.
